Palm Coast, FL – The Flagler County Chamber recently welcomed its 26th class of community leaders as part of Leadership Flagler, a program that nurtures and engages the leadership skills of potential and current community leaders. The three-month program deepens participants’ understanding of Flagler County, its issues and opportunities, and encourages graduates to take active roles as stewards and advocates for positive change.

The program kicked off February 13 with a reception of networking with past Leadership Flagler alumni and included a working session for the newest class with instruction to the group on development their community project goal at the Chamber. The first week will close out on Feb 16 with the group meeting at YMCA Camp Winona in DeLeon Springs for a day of team-building activities on the ropes course. The class meets mostly on Wednesday mornings from 8:30am until 12:30pm at various locations throughout the county, exploring topics that include tourism, local government, health and social services, arts and culture, the education system, agriculture, emergency services, economic development, and criminal justice.
As the result of past graduates going through the program, legacy projects that have launched and exist today include the Dolly Parton Flagler Imagination Library free book program, Youth Leadership Flagler which provides opportunities for high school students to experience similar session topics, and a backyard expansion and makeover project for the Family Life Center.
Leadership Flagler is one of nearly 700 programs nationwide devoted to shaping high-profile community leaders. Since its start in 1993, Leadership Flagler has graduated more than 275 professionals.
